My family and I enjoyed this festival for two years and were disappointed when it was cancelled. Given how extremely popular it seemed to be, and the relatively high cost of tickets that 200,000 people were willing to pay ($35 and up) you’d think that $7M would be enough to warrant bringing it back. I think there is a much larger groundswell of people ready to go see it since it has been talked about, I know lots of people I spoke to wanted to go only to find it cancelled. Every year we look for the Toronto Chinese lantern festival and hope that it will be back. But alas we have only our memories and our photos to remember it by — blissful summer nights in the breeze from the lake strolling among the softly glowing works of art. Truly a loss indeed.

I can’t believe it is cancelled, I was just looking it up for the dates for 2010. Great show, great acrabats and live acts, great setting to express the Chinese culture. Truly a loss.

What an utter disappointment and I am so said that they no longer have the Chinese Lantern Festival in Toronto. I have gone with friends/family every year and was amazed by the spectacular sights and sounds every year. Simply amazing!!
It’s so very sad and I truly wish they would being the Festival back to Toronto. I’m sure that anyone who saw the Festival would agree. BRING IT BACK!!!!!

I am also very sad that the Lantern festival is no longer on. My daughter and I have made it our special “Mommy-daughter” time for years. Every year we check and HOPE they wil bring it back to Toronto! We will be there when they do!!!!

I’ve lived in Ottawa for 13 years and I’ve never heard of this festival until just now. How sad that it is not longer being held in TO. I would have definitely taken the trip to Toronto for it.

I was so disappointed last year, after having booked my vacation to cooincide with the Festival, to find out , on arrival, that it had been cancelled. I was checking today, in the hope that this years dates would be available, only to find out that the festival is indefinately cancelled. How sad.

I cannot put into words how sad this is to not have the festival anymore, I had attended two years in a row and was disappointed when it was canceled last year. I was told it was due to a trash strike. Now it is canceled indefinately, we are from Buffalo, Ny and told everyone we knew to attend this breath taking event. VERY SAD!!!!
